The Daughters of Mary were founded in 1938 in Marthandam, India, by Rev. Msgr. Joseph Kuzhinjalil, with the blessing of Archbishop Mar Ivanios and the approval of Pope Pius XI.
The first members—Mother Mary Kallarackal, Sister Agnes, and Sister Theresa—dedicated themselves to a life of faith, service, and missionary zeal. Their courage and devotion laid the foundation for a congregation committed to proclaiming the Gospel and serving those in need, especially women and children through home visits.
