Vocation: Call to Love
A personal invitation from God to live out His love in a unique and profound way.
The word vocation comes from the Latin vocare, meaning “to call.”
Our primary vocation is as children of God, and within that, some are called to religious consecration—a profound response to God’s call, dedicating oneself entirely through the vows of obedience, chastity, and poverty. It is a deepening of our baptismal commitment, where we offer our whole selves to God in service to His people.
"Religious consecration is a profound response to God’s call, dedicating oneself entirely to Him."
Discerning God’s Call
Discerning a vocation involves openness, prayer, and reflection. It’s about listening to God’s voice and being attentive to His presence in daily life. Key practices include:
- Daily Prayer: Spending time in silence and conversation with God.
- Spiritual Reading: Nourishing the soul with Scripture and spiritual writings.
- Spiritual Direction: Seeking guidance from a trusted spiritual mentor.
- Community Engagement: Participating in the life of the Church and serving others.
